The 8th International Conference of Corporate Finance:'Innovative Finance for Climate Risk and Biodiversity Management in Emerging Markets'

2025/10/20

The 8th International Conference of Corporate Finance, co-hosted by Hitotsubashi University and the Darla Moore School of Business at the University of South Carolina, took place on 31 July and 1 August at Hitotsubashi's Sano Shoin, supported by Mizuho Securities and the University of South Carolina's Center for International Business Education and Research (CIBER). This year marked the conference's tenth anniversary. This year's theme was 'Innovative Finance for Climate Risk and Biodiversity Management in Emerging Markets', with researchers from Europe, North America and Asia gathering at Hitotsubashi University to discuss it.

While many academic studies on sustainability in finance and economics have already been developed, this year's conference also focused on a new theme: biodiversity. Additionally, the scope of the conference was expanded to include emerging markets, resulting in 15 presentations over the two days -- more than in previous years.

All 15 presentations were followed by lively discussions led by the discussants and actively joined by conference participants, reflecting various perspectives on corporate disclosures, market responses and nature-related risks.
